A Day of Solidarity at Mahazengy Public Primary School, Fianarantsoa

On December 21, 2023, Madagascar Soap Project (MSP) had the opportunity to collaborate with the Ambition de Madagascar association for a hygiene awareness day at the Mahazengy Public Primary School, in Fianarantsoa. This initiative was driven by the commitment of a young Malagasy student in France, determined to make a difference in her hometown. Madagascar's Ambition, although young, already embodies a strong desire for change, an impetus that MSP deeply shares.

The day began with bursts of laughter and bright smiles. Animations, games and songs adapted to the young students transformed the schoolyard into a space of joy and camaraderie. The children, eager to participate, took full advantage of this festive morning, marked by a feeling of freedom and fun, just before the holidays.

Ambition de Madagascar has also played a crucial role in improving the lives of the students of the Mahazengy Public Primary School by organizing school canteens. This initiative aims to provide a daily meal to children, contributing not only to their health and well-being, but also to their academic success. The possibility of a hot meal at school is a valuable support for many families and an additional motivation for students to come to class.

The atmosphere, filled with happiness, continued to grow throughout the day as we visited every classroom, from preschoolers to 7th graders. We had the honour of distributing handmade soaps, a symbol of our commitment to promoting hygiene and well-being in local communities. Each teacher we met welcomed our mission with enthusiasm, which testifies to the importance of our work. Apart from the MSP team and Ambition de Madagascar, other generous donors were present, offering books to enrich the school's library and kits to encourage sport and physical activity among young people.

This day was not only marked by material donations, but also by the transmission of new healthy habits and essential values for the schoolchildren. Seeing the children discover the importance of hygiene through simple but meaningful gestures touched us deeply. It was a new inspiration for all of us — associations and students — living proof that every gesture can trigger great change.

To conclude this day rich in emotions, a lunch was organized bringing together the MSP teams, the members of Ambition de Madagascar, the benefactors, as well as the management and teachers of the school. This moment of sharing made it possible to strengthen the links between all the actors present and to exchange on possible future collaborations for the good of the children of Mahazengy.

For MSP, this partnership with Ambition de Madagascar has been much more than a collaboration. It is an alliance of two visions, two hopes for the future of Madagascar. We are proud to support and work alongside ambitious young people, who share our vision of building a better future for the future of generations. Their initiative and determination remind us every day why we do what we do.

Together, we will continue to inspire, educate, and bring about positive change in our communities. We thank Ambition de Madagascar for this great collaboration and we remain ready to join forces for future projects that will give a glimmer of hope to Malagasy children, to build a more sustainable and just future.
